Dear Valued Guest,
We are thrilled to announce our exciting new partnership with Angama Mara. Angama Mara is a luxury safari lodge located in the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. It is situated on the edge of the Oloololo Escarpment, offering breathtaking views of the savannah below. The name “Angama” means “suspended in mid-air” in Swahili, which perfectly captures the lodge’s elevated position.
The lodge consists of two separate camps, each containing 15 tented suites. The suites are spacious and beautifully designed, providing a luxurious and comfortable retreat for guests. Each suite features a private deck where guests can relax and enjoy the panoramic views of the Maasai Mara.
Angama Mara is renowned for its exceptional game viewing opportunities. The Maasai Mara is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including the famous Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, and buffalo). Guests can embark on thrilling game drives led by experienced guides, who have extensive knowledge of the area and its wildlife.
In addition to game drives, Angama Mara offers other activities such as hot air balloon safaris, guided bush walks, and visits to Maasai communities, providing guests with a deeper understanding of the local culture and environment.
The lodge itself boasts various amenities, including a swimming pool, a fitness center, a curated safari shop, and a photography studio. The culinary experience at Angama Mara is also exceptional, with delicious meals served in various settings, from the main lodge to private picnic spots in the bush.
Overall, Angama Mara provides a unique and unforgettable safari experience, combining luxury, adventure, and breathtaking natural beauty
Welcome to Angama, inspired by the Swahili word for ‘suspended in mid-air’. Located high above the floor of Africa’s Great Rift Valley, Angama Mara is a remarkable safari lodge overlooking Kenya’s Maasai Mara, considered by many as the loveliest game reserve on the continent.
Here guests will find a lodge where everything is as it ought to be: two intimate camps of just fifteen tented suites each, a private airfield and access to the Mara below, tailor-made safari days and a famously warm Kenyan welcome.
The lodge is perfectly complemented by Angama Safari Camp, an exclusive-use mobile tented camp sited deep in the Mara Triangle, and amidst the mega herds during the Great Migration.
TENTED SUITES
Perched right on the edge of the escarpment, each of Angama Mara’s spacious 100 sqm Tented Suites has floor-to-ceiling glass spanning all along the front to make the most of the dramatic views. The interiors are uncluttered, classic and above all, comfortable with splashes of Maasai Red, French Khaki, copper and brass.
DISCOVER THE WILDLIFE
Home to all of Kenya’s great mammals year-round and more than 450 bird species, it is a life-changing experience to go on safari in one of Africa’s most iconic reserves. That’s not to mention the annual spectacle of two million wildebeest, zebra and Thomson’s gazelle braving the dramatic crossings of the Mara River as they make their way into the Mara Triangle.
Welcome to Angama Amboseli, an intimate lodge in the heart of Kimana Sanctuary. Kenya’s first community-owned conservancy, the Sanctuary is renowned for its lush landscape and remarkable density of wildlife — along with its famed backdrop, Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. Set within a fever tree forest where some of Africa’s last Super Tuskers roam – elephants with tusks so large they drag along the ground as they walk — Angama Amboseli is a gentle start or finish to any East African safari.
THE TENTED SUITES
Another contemporary take on African design with nods to the giants of this landscape, each of the 10 suites is a mix of canvas, concrete and rattan with earthy, neutral colours. What’s an Angama suite without a view to wake up to? Each is orientated so that Kili can be seen from nearly every corner — from the bed to the shower — while floor-to-ceiling screen doors are all that lies between you and the mountain.
THE SANCTUARY
Kimana Sanctuary is the first community conservancy established in Kenya and owned by 844 Maasai families. Thanks to its perennial stream, the Sanctuary boasts the greatest habitat diversity and wildlife density in the area attracting scores of eland, reedbuck, and warthogs in their hundreds, along with giraffe, zebra and wildebeest. Even the elusive leopard, cheetah and serval can be seen here along with many species of bird. Angama Amboseli has exclusive traversing rights and unrestricted game viewing
Sincerely,
GREAT GETAWAY HOLIDAYS
